Ruby: Courage, Covenant &The Voice of Truth

While we are forever secure in God’s presence, He also placed tools within creation to steady us—body, soul, and spirit. Certain stones help stabilize us in Christ. These gemstones aren’t magical; they’re made from the same minerals and elements that our bodies contain. It’s no accident. It’s design.

In previous posts, we discovered how some stones—like Rose Quartz or Amethyst—are rich in SiO₂ (Silicon Dioxide), a compound also found in our bones and connective tissue. It’s approved by the FDA and found in our foods, although inhaling it from the air can cause issues. In the body, however, it’s essential for strength, clarity, and structure.

I’ve experienced this design firsthand. Years ago, I was told one of the disks in my lower spine was disintegrating. But since wearing my Kaph bracelet, I’ve had no lower back issues for over a year. God’s healing can come through many means, including the stones He created for grounding and balance.

Stabilized in Creation, Rooted in Christ

These stones are part of God’s intentional design to steady us. They connect our hearts back to His creation—helping us release what weighs us down and settle into His peace. They absorb the overwhelm, quiet the chaos, and gently restore balance so we can think clearly and walk in truth.

When we feel anxious or unsettled, these grounding stones interact with the same mineral frequencies in our bodies that are also found in the earth. There’s a homogenization between creation and Creator—a unity designed to bring us into alignment with Heaven’s peace.

We Were Not Created for Anxiety

Our bodies were not made to carry negative emotional burdens like hate, discord, fear, or toxic anger. There is a righteous version of these emotions—like God’s hatred of injustice and His anger at corruption. And yes, we are to fear the Lord—but that fear means reverence, honor, and deep respect.

Ruby helps restore the emotions we were designed to carry—love, courage, trust, and reverence. When we seek God in moments of fear—like opening a bill when the bank account doesn’t match—Ruby gently reminds us to listen for His voice. His provision is real, and Ruby helps us tune in to the Voice of Truth.

Heaven to Earth: Ruby & the Hebrew Letter Vav

One of the pieces in my Hebrew Jewelry collection is the “Vav” necklace, bracelet, and earring set. Vav is the sixth letter in the Hebrew alphabet and means “Heaven to Earth.” It reminds us that we can hear God’s voice and walk with Him with an undivided heart. We serve Him in reverence because we know He sees beyond the bend in the road.

As Isaiah 55:8–9 reminds us:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.

The Heart of Ruby: Composition and Symbolism

Ruby is formed from aluminum oxide with traces of chromium, which gives it its red color. It belongs to the corundum family, the same as sapphire. After diamonds, corundum is one of the hardest natural substances on earth, making Ruby a symbol of strength, purity, and endurance.

This stone vibrates with a high energy—especially around the heart—and has long been associated with the sacrifice of Christ, as its deep red hue echoes the shedding of His blood.

Ruby is also a symbol of great value and favor:

  • Proverbs 3:15“She is more precious than rubies.”
  • Job 28:18“The price of wisdom is above rubies.”

Where Rubies Come From: Earthly and Spiritual Deposits

Rubies are often found in Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, and in rich alluvial soils—secondary deposits formed when wind and water erode rock, carrying gemstones to areas where they naturally settle.

Some of the richest ruby sites are found in alluvial deposits—areas where the waters of time slowly carry and concentrate these precious stones. Because the rubies have already been separated from the rock, they are easier to reach. The tools used to find them may vary, but the principle remains: what was once hidden is brought to the surface to be gathered.

God often works this way with us. He allows seasons of pressure, waiting, or grief—not to crush us, but to reveal the treasures He’s placed inside. The refining work of the Holy Spirit is not always loud or immediate. Sometimes, it’s the gentle erosion of pride, fear, or control that allows our true identity and calling to surface.

🎵 The Voice of Truth

As I wrote this, the song “Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns came to mind. It’s a reminder that God’s voice rises above fear, shame, and doubt. One of my favorite lines:

“But the voice of truth tells me a different story…
And the voice of truth says, ‘Do not be afraid!’”

When anxiety feels like a storm, Ruby anchors us to the Voice of Truth—Jesus—who calls us out of the boat and into deeper trust.

Ruby in the Breastplate of the High Priest

Ruby may have been the first stone in the High Priest’s breastplate. Its Hebrew name, Odem (אֹדֶם), comes from the root meaning “red” or “blood-colored.” The Hebrew letters Aleph (א), Dalet (ד), and Mem (ם) each hold symbolic meaning:

  • Aleph – God, strength, the beginning
  • Dalet – the door, representing access or a pathway
  • Mem – water, flow, or hidden truth

Taken together, they form a prophetic picture: God (Aleph) opens the door (Dalet) to living water (Mem)—or to a deeper flow of life and truth through Him. Ruby, then, represents more than value or beauty; it reminds us that through God, we step through the doorway into cleansing, covenant, and life-giving transformation.

It’s also connected to Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn son. Though Reuben lost his birthright through impulsive behavior, Ruby reminds us that in Christ, we are made new.

Romans 8:29“He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”

Ruby’s Emotional and Spiritual Healing

While we can’t make medical claims, we can recognize the emotional and spiritual patterns Ruby supports:

  • Builds courage, confidence, and emotional strength
  • Releases fear, insecurity, and anxiety
  • Strengthens identity and connection to God’s covenant
  • Activates the heart and grounds us in God’s truth

When paired with Turquoise, a stone of peace and clarity, the two work beautifully together—Fire (Ruby) and Water (Turquoise)—a heavenly balance. Even alluvial deposits, both on Earth and the moon, contain water, symbolizing the spiritual purification and balance between fire and water.

💖 Final Encouragement + Affirmation

Your emotions—like fear and anxiety—do not define you. These were never meant to live in your body. In Eden, Adam and Eve knew no fear until sin entered. Fear was the first emotion to rise after the fall. But in Christ, we’re being restored.

Wear Ruby as a reminder:

“I am grounded in love, clothed in covenant, and filled with courage.”

Every time you feel anxiety begin to rise, remember this:
God’s thoughts are higher, His ways are better, and He is madly in love with you.
He knows every breath, every fear, every need. And He calls you His.
